The history of CSC is a chequered one, not unlike the squares on an "N" flag. This special Changilog-style issue hopes to capture a little of our club's colourful past in a readable keepsake form for posterity, before it fades away into obscurity and the springcleaning of yet another major renovation/rebuilding in the next decade. Goodness knows how much archival material was lost over the years!! We hope our readers find this sentimental journey back to the 30's a worthwhile trip, if only to fully appreciate how we came to be, and perhaps have an inkling of where we will be going from here, in the NEXT 60 years!!

The retelling or documenting of history is a laborious task, and one which demands meticulous and accurate handling and reporting of facts and figures. While we would like to adhere to this standard, our limited time, budget and resources only allows us quick forays into our past, helped in no small way by the wonderful letters and contributions of several old an former members of the club. The piecing of their accounts is best, an happy assemblage of what we feel is definitive of the past eras, and we the editors apologize for the possible errors and certain omissions this 22 page account surely must have! (Also, don't put it pass us to embellish the accounts in the retelling..but we try to keep to a true and fair course; research, dusty records and deciphering near-illegible longhand permitting!) And rather than fly the "N" flag at the onset of what is potentially a gargantuan task of narrating 60 years of convoluted history, we felt that it was the Changi years, before the next decade flows by without a celebratory reckoning for posterity. So read on, with rose-tinted glasses, if you will, and enjoy..and remember: you can't get your history thesis material from here!
